Main Role and Responsibilities
The Chief of Staff is a student leadership position in the Executive Branch and serves as Youth Governor’s top aide. Helping the Governor carry out their responsibilities while keep the Executive Branch running effectively.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing the Governor’s office operations by organizing schedules, meetings, events, communications, and day-to-day tasks
- Supporting the Governor as a trusted advisor and helping the governor make decisions and follow through on priorities
- Coordinating with other leaders as a connection between the Governor’s office, Cabinet members, Legislative leaders, program staff, and other participants
- Handling communications by assisting with announcements, statements, and other messages from the Governor’s office
- Preparing information for the Governor’s review of Bills and tracking important legislative discussions
- Providing leadership and professionalism through organization, judgment, teamwork, and commitment to the YMCA mission and serve as an example for delegates

Election/Selection Procedure
The Chief of Staff is an appointed position, selected by the Youth Governor (with program approval) and serves as part of the Governor’s team.
To apply for this position:
- Complete the Governor Cabinet Application
- Deadline is the Tuesday after Ingenious People Day at 5:00 PM
- The Youth Governor will select and announce the winner at Caucus B
- If not filled, an election will be held at Caucus C.
